Ellen is the older sister of Thomas A. Ford, and therefore Aunt to WKFI. She was born in Fownhope on July 13, 1861, and is just 2 when her baby brother Thomas is born. The family calls her Nellie.

I imagine she was very excited to attend the first elementary school built in Fownhope in 1868. She must have loved it, as she eventually moved north to Farnworth, Lancashire to work as an assistant teacher helping her older sister Mary Ann who is a full teacher at a the school where they are boarders. While in Farnworth she meets and marries John Longworth, and they have three children. Frank is born August 31, 1891, John Arthur (called Arthur by the family) comes on November 11, 1894, and finally Annie on March 29, 1900. How excited would Nellie be to have that little girl? How sad indeed would we find her on July 2 of 1901 when Annie dies?

Annie was just the first of many family deaths for Nellie. She is a widow at 50, and eventually survives the deaths of her parents and all of her siblings! Luckily she gets the chance to travel abroad, and sails from Liverpool by herself when she is 62, all the way to Quebec (likely planning to visit little brother Thomas A. Ford one day). She is 89 when she dies on February 5th, 1951, with son Frank Longworth serving as her Lawyer.
