Bio
Mary Ann is the first born child of William and Anne Williams so she is our Thomas A. Ford's oldest sister. She was born July 5, 1850 in Michael Church, Herefordshire England. Her mother was born in Michael Church, not far at all from Fownhope where this young family lived in 1851.
As the oldest girl Mary Ann would have been a big help to her mother and would have helped raise her siblings Sarah, James, William, Ellen and of course, Thomas. She is listed as a "scholar" in the family's 1861 census entry, which would have been a source of pride for them all. The first school was built in Fownhope in 1848, and not all children were able to go.
Mary Ann eventually becomes a teacher and is living as a boarder in Lancashire England when she is 30. Her sister Sarah Ann is living with her and is a teacher's assistant. Mary Ann dies in February 1925 at the age of 74
