Bio
Minnie was the second child born to Wenzel and Thekla Schrom and the oldest sister to Frank Schrom, the grandfather of Bill, Pete, and David Ford.

She was born on a (probably) cold day in February 1877 in Northern Wisconsin. Minnie likely spent a good deal of her time helping her mother with household chores and raising her 9 younger brothers and sisters. When she was 8, her little brother Albert dies at just 3 years of age. Six months later her mother has another baby boy they name George. And on it goes.

When she is 13 her family leaves the farm and moves south to the city of Rockford, Illinois. Two more boys are born to the family, with the final one being Teddy, born when Minnie is 16. For a time Minnie's father runs a Saloon but it is not long before the depression hits and people have no money to spend on drinking! Her father supports them all working as a "teamster" which means he drove a cart and horse and delivered things around town.

Soon Minnie marries a local Rockford man named George Allen Weldon who works as a carpenter. They settle down and start a family of their own. They have three sons, Earl A., George W., and Frank N.; and also two daughters, Margaret and Minnie, who were twins.

Two of her sons, Earl and George, operated the Welden Electric company. Her other son, Frank, was owner of Welden Radio service.

Minnie was a busy lady. She was a member of the Forest City chapter No. 590, the Order of Easter Star, the Chapter No. 5 White Shrine, the Chapter No. 155 Royal Neighbors of America, and a member of the Trinity Lutheran church. She was 78 when she died at her home at 423 Hall St in Rockford of a heart attack. She had 7 grandchildren at the time of her death and outlived her two younger sisters and all but one (Fred) of her 8 brothers!
