Bio
Edith Woodworth was born in Williamsfield Ohio. Her father, Newell Woodworth, was born there too. His father, Al, moved from the east, along with many other Woodworths, to settle the land and become farmers in Ohio. Al died the same year his granddaughter was born. She was the middle of 5 children born to Newell.

One can only speculate how the beautiful Edith met her husband Thomas A. Ford. He had the means to travel and as a builder perhaps he came to Ohio looking at projects to build. We know from his naturalization papers that he resided in Cook County (Chicago) in the year before they were married. He likely lived in Chicago first, came and met her and realized he would need to move to Williamsfield if he wanted to marry her. Quite romantically, they were married on Christmas Eve of 1895. He later convinced her into moving to the big city as by 1920 they are living on Maple Street in Lyons Township, Illinois where their third son Harold was born. Newell and William had been born earlier in Williamsfield.

Only 8 years later her beloved husband dies in a tragic accident in New York city. Edith continues on for another 17 years, devoted to her grandchildren from sons Newell and William. One of her grandsons can still remember visiting "Bama Ford" in Western Springs when he was 7, being led into her kitchen, and allowed to help himself to a candy cane from a glass jar she kept high on a pantry shelf.

When Edith dies in during World War II, her son William K Ford is still in the Pacific, serving as Chief Dermatologist of the 7th Fleet, and was unable to attend her funeral. The services were held on a Tuesday at 2:30 at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs. She was buried in Bronswood Cemetery in Section I, Lot 150.
