Catherine was born in Ireland to Peter Egan and Honora (Nora) Melin. She married Joseph Sweeny in Shrule Ireland in 1845. She and her husband begin having a family. It is hard to find all the records, but they sailed to America in June of 1865 with the following children: James, Peter, Nicholas, Mary Ann, William, Lizzie, Joseph and John ranging in age from 20 to 2! Catherine is a housewife and outlives her husband. Her unmarried sons live with her until her death of heart failure at age 75. She was buried is the St. Jospeh Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
