Bio
Carrie's mom came from Scotland and her dad was born in Norway. Her father was a painter, and died when he fell off a ladder. Her mother died from cancer when Carrie was just 13. Carrie had a sister named Polie, and 2 brothers, Harry and Walter. Polie had 1 daughter, Harry had 2 sons, and Walter had 3 daughters.

Carrie once had her picture in a newspaper for winning a dance contest. She was married and divorced once before marrying Roy. She had long red hair, but when she started to get headaches, she braided her hair and cut it off. She kept these braids until they were lost in a house fire.

Carrie raised 5 children through the hard times of the war and the Depression. When Dorothy was a baby, she got whooping cough, and Carrie fed her watered-down oatmeal to keep her alive. Words she lived by were "If you don't have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything" and "If it's worth doing, do it well."

Christmas in the upstairs home on Woodbridge was always special, with all the family gathering for dinner and to exchange gifts. There got to be so many in the family that the grandchildren would eat dinner in the bedroom on a card table.
