Bio
Roy's mother, Ella, was German, and his dad, Theodore, was English. Roy's mother worked at Fries & Schule, where she would sew strips of carpeting together to make rugs for homes. She told her grandchildren that she traveled in a covered wagon. She also told stories of how Theodore played the accordion, and how they would dance across a wooden floor.

Roy had a brother Elvadore who was married to Mildren, who had 3 sons. Billy was married to Helen (he just died in 2007 at the age of 90). The second son died swimming in the river in Metropolitan Park. The third son, Alan, died of meningitis

Elvadore played the piano and the organ. He played the organ at the silent movie theater.

Roy was a painter and a paper hanger. He never owned a car, and he loved to listen to baseball games on the radio.
