Bio
Charles Palmer Henderson was born on December 17, 1861 in Iowa City Iowa and was the son of a carpenter. His father Robert built the beautiful farm house in which the family lived. His mother was Polly Palmer and she came from a large and wealthy family. Charles' paternal grandparents were Irish immigrants to America.
Iowa was an attractive place to move to as the government was giving the land away there in an effort to encourage farming - and it worked! In the 1860s, when Charles was a young boy, the railroads came through as well to help take the produce to markets up in Chicago and to carry the men off to fight for the Union in the Civil War.
By 1870 the family moved to Monticello. Charles is listed as a "tinner" (like a blacksmith) in 1885. Charles' daughters were Fannie, born April 12, 1890, and then Ruth Henderson. Charles sadly passes away on the 21st of November, 1898.
